Biography

Active: 1966 - Present

Born in 1966, Ajarn Uthai was ordained into the monkhood at the age of 25 in B.E. 2535 (1992), immediately following his military service. Early in his monastic journey, he studied Dharma and Yantra under Luang Phor Pong of Wat Jeang. By B.E. 2542 (1999), at age 32, he became the abbot of Wat Wihansoon. Over the years, he has drawn many devotees seeking his signature flower bath rituals to cleanse negativity and invite positive energy into their lives.

First-time visitors often encounter a quiet, reserved master who rarely shows emotion and avoids looking directly at the camera during photos, sometimes leaving a distant initial impression. However, repeat visitors often feel a strong spiritual connection and good energy, eventually discovering Ajarn Uthai’s warm, friendly personality and willingness to share his knowledge openly.

Monastic Life & Amulet History

  • First Creation: Ajarn Uthai made his very first amulet in B.E. 2548 (2005).
  • Limited Releases: Wat Wihansoon rarely releases amulets—typically only once or twice a year, primarily during the temple's Kathin festival.
  • Efficacy & Metta: His amulets are renowned for enhancing metta (loving-kindness) and boosting individual luck during difficult times. He constantly reminds devotees that merit-making (boon) must come sincerely from the heart, rather than from a desire for personal gain.
  • Low Profile: Ajarn Uthai deliberately avoids participating in outside ceremonies to stay clear of worldly gossip and social politics aimed at seeking popularity.

Temple Developments
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Wat Wihansoon initiated a project to build a dedicated Sala building featuring 18 guest rooms. This accommodation allows visiting devotees to stay overnight comfortably, eliminating the need for long round trips to and from Hat Yai city. Construction is expected to take another two years to complete.

For the upcoming Kathin event on November 21, B.E. 2569, Wat Wihansoon will release its first-ever batch of Rian Sema coins featuring the inaugural image of Ajarn Uthai's Phra Pidta. Pre-orders for this milestone batch will open soon.

Ajarn Uthai remains a rare example of a genuine, humble master who focuses purely on spiritual guidance rather than financial gain, serving as a peaceful sanctuary for those on their amulet journey.
